We are currently participating in several externally funded national and international research projects, on topics related to our research foci. Please click on one of the following projects for more information.
Participation is simple and registration is not required. Whether Mallorca or Ecuador, whether steep coast or port facility, whether it is from ten years ago or from yesterday - every photo is added to the database and in this way, improves an important scientific basis for the development of long-term adaptation strategies.
Sharing knowledge about the impacts of climate change, in order to provide concrete policy actions to counteract the consequences of climate change.
The project addresses the coastal adaptation challenge for the German Baltic Sea coasts by i) developing robust local scale information on coastal extreme sea levels, ii) applying this information within improved methods for flood risk assessment that consider the full range of protection, accommodation and retreat options, and iii) developing adequate robust decision-making methods for deciding under deep uncertainty.
Climate induced changes in the Agulhas system can lead to changes in the mean sea-level and atmospheric conditions, which in turn would produce changes in the flood drivers (i.e. waves, storm surges, precipitation and river discharge) that can cause significant impacts along the Southern African coasts. These potential impacts as well as possible adaptation options for the South African coast will be assessed within the CASISAC project in order to provide a comprehensive overview of the impacts of different climate change scenarios.
On the 17th November 2020 the Mediterranean Assessment Report was released; our group leader Athanasios Vafeidis contributed to Chapter 6 as coordinating lead author, whereas Lena Reimann…Read more
